About the Team

A bit about me..

I am a Mum of four children, whom all I have taught to swim over the years, using a variety of techniques. For the latter two, I had discovered a book by Francoise Freedman, giving techniques for swimming based on her studies in the Amazon. I followed these techniques and had great results with both my youngest children, and after getting many comments from people at the swimming pool, found out about courses based on these techniques.

Over the last three of years I have been gaining qualifications within the aquatic environment, in several areas, hopefully using my knowledge gained from those courses and teaching my own children to swim I have developed these ideas and would like to impart these to other parents and children so as to give their children the confidence and knowledge within the water. I believe that swimming is a vital ability for children to learn, one that will stay with them for life, and perhaps someday save a life. With the basic skills and ability to swim it will open up so many opportunities for them, and living on such a beautiful coastline most of those are on our doorstep.

I try to make the lessons fun and if the child leaves with a smile on their face and wanting to come back then we have definitely achieved something. This also goes for the parent and child sessions, enjoyment is the first steps, bonding and building trust and confidence all stems from this. I have found my children ranging from 4 – 14 years can all have fun and enjoy the water together, age doesn’t matter.

Abi Free

I am so pleased Abi decided to come an work alongside me at Splash Together. she is a great asset, having been a swimmer herself, she knows how important it is, and all the benefits you can enjoy from being able to swim. Abi show a passion for the sport and relays this in an enthusiastic and friendly way to the children. Abi is also a fully qualified Lifeguard which is an added bonus for us. Abi has been teaching swimming for sometime and is experienced with children of school age, she is keen to expand this and build on her knowledge for parent and child lessons.

Abi Says..

I have been a competitive swimmer since I was very young and also competed at national and county level. I have always wanted to share my passion for swimming which is why I have chosen this career. I am a qualified ASA Level 2 swimming teacher with 6 years of teaching experience. I have also undertaken my Adult and Child CPD and safeguarding certificate. I work full time at Osprey leisure centre as a lifeguard, swimming teacher and gym instructor and I am also a youth support worker at the local youth club. I have recently become part of the Splash Together team which I am thoroughly enjoying and I can't wait to spend more and more of my time teaching.

Kim Foster

We are delighted to welcome Kim on the team, having attended some classes with Splash Together with her baby, she soon realised she would like to expand her knowledge and share this with other parents, so attend the STA Parent and Baby course.

Kim Says..

I have always enjoyed swimming. As a child I have lots of happy memories of enjoying the water in the pool and on the beach. As an adult it has given me great confidence in other water activities so I happily enjoy sea kayaking, knowing I'll be ok if I do happen to go in! Becoming a mum renewed my passion for swimming. Living near the sea, I consider it a vital survival skill but more than that, I have seen the confidence it has given my eldest son. His physical milestones have always been met early and I give much of that credit to swimming. My youngest has been with Splash Together from 9 weeks and is already at ease in the water. I find that very rewarding.
